Kazomba CDSS Set to Launch Digital Learning Era with New Computer Lab

Kazomba Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) is preparing to embrace digital education, thanks to a computer lab initiative led by the Mzimba Institute for Development Communication Trust (MIDCT). The project, which aims to equip students with essential computer skills, was unveiled during a meeting between MIDCT staff and the school community. Christopher Milele, Executive Director of MIDCT, expressed the organization’s commitment to improving ICT access in secondary schools. Project Manager Justice Ntchengwa explained that the lab would not only prepare students for computer studies but also introduce e-examinations, reducing teachers’ marking workload. “Our goal is to empower students to confidently handle computer tasks and prepare them for a tech-driven world,” he said. Starting with 25 computers, the initiative will include teacher training to ensure effective use of the lab. Once trained, teachers will guide students in their ICT journey, beginning with the incoming Form One students next term. School staff, excited about the project, have pledged to speed up preparations so the lab can be launched before the end of the term. This development is seen as a step toward bridging the digital divide and empowering the Kazomba community with technological skills. The initiative is part of a broader program by MIDCT, supported by Mzuzu University’s Department of ICT, to establish computer labs in schools across Mzimba District.
